Tradie website checklist: what gets you found in 2026

A tradie website that gets calls needs six things: a page for each service and each area you work in, your ABN and licence number on the page, a click-to-call button on mobile, LocalBusiness schema with the same name, address and phone as your Google Business Profile, real reviews and photos of your work, and pages that load in under about 2.5 seconds. Google’s map pack and AI assistants such as Gemini and ChatGPT look for the same signals.

The checklist

  • One page per service (e.g. switchboard upgrades, hot water, bathroom renovations), not one page listing everything
  • One page per area you really work in, written for that area, with the suburbs you cover
  • Business name, ABN and licence number in the footer and on the contact page
  • The same name, address and phone (NAP) on the site, Google Business Profile and directories
  • Click-to-call and click-to-SMS buttons that stay visible on phones
  • A short quote form that goes straight to your email or phone
  • Prices or price ranges for common jobs, with the date you checked them
  • Photos of your own jobs, not stock photos, with the suburb in the caption
  • Reviews from Google shown on the site and linked back to your profile
  • LocalBusiness (or Plumber, Electrician, etc.) schema with ABN, area served and opening hours
  • Google Search Console connected and the sitemap submitted on launch day

What AI assistants look for

When someone asks Gemini or ChatGPT “who does hot water systems in Point Cook?”, the assistant pulls from pages that answer the question directly. Pages that start with the answer (what you do, where, from what price, how fast), then back it up with a price table and a few clear questions and answers, are the ones that get quoted.

Consistency matters too. If your business name, suburb and phone number match across your site, your Google Business Profile and directories such as hipages or Yellow Pages, AI systems are more confident it is the same business and more willing to name it.

Questions

What should a tradie website include?

A page per service and per area, ABN and licence number, click-to-call, a quote form, real job photos, Google reviews, LocalBusiness schema and fast loading on phones.

How do I get my business into the Google map pack?

A complete, verified Google Business Profile with the right category, regular reviews, photos, and a website whose name, address and phone match the profile exactly.

How do I get ChatGPT or Gemini to recommend my business?

Answer customers’ questions plainly on your pages (what, where, price, how fast), add FAQs and schema, and keep your details consistent across your site, Google profile and directories.

Do I need my licence number on my website?

In most states trades such as electricians and plumbers must show their licence number in advertising, and it builds trust. Check the rule for your trade and state.

Do I need a separate page for each suburb?

For the main areas you work in, yes, as long as each page is written for that area. Copy-paste suburb pages with only the name changed do little.
